Shiripuno Lodge
Shiripuno Amazon Lodge is located in the Pastaza and Orellana provinces, 75 km south from Coca on the Auca Road to the Shiripuno River. Shiripuno Amazon Lodge is a new tourist facility in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Its remote location in the pristine tropical rainforest provides an extraordinary opportunity for birding, natural history excursions and nature explorations.
The Lodge, with its comfortable, clean, environmentally harmonious accommodations and dedicated staff, will be your home base for unforgettable expeditions.
Shiripuno Lodge is located in the area just south of Yasuni National Park. The Shiripuno River formerly belonged to the national park, but later became part of the Huaorani Reserve. This protected territory, where human impact remains minimal, enjoys the same biodiversity as the national park. Visitors can observe firsthand an abundance of spectacular flora and fauna.
Accommodation
Our cabins, furnished with both single and double beds, accommodate up to three people in one room. All rooms have private bathrooms and hammocks. Not electricity is available; all light is by candle.
Facilities
During your stay at Shiripuno Amazon Lodge, you will be delighted by our cuisine. Three set menus daily, fresh baked bread, tropical fruit juices and a perfect balance between Ecuadorian and international food make you feel at home. Vegetarian or other dietary meals are provided upon request.

Sample Itineraries
6 Days / 5 Nights
DAY 01:
From Coca, we will travel south by small pick-up or bus to Shiripuno Bridge (approx. 3 hours). Box Lunch. We will take the motorized canoe downstream to our campsite. The ride will take approximately 4 hours and you will be introduced to the wide diversity of wildlife in the rainforest, including macaws, toucans, monkeys, caimans and others. Dinner and lodging in tents.
DAY 02:
Breakfast. We will take a 3 to 4 hour hike through the primary forest on the Magic Canopy trail, which has a scenic view of the Amazon Basin at 310 meters above sea level The Huaorani and naturalist guides will share their knowledge on the biodiversity of the rainforest and the medicinal plants that local people use. This hike requires that you be in good physical condition. Lunch. In the afternoon, we will go piranha fishing on the oxbow lake. Dinner and lodging in tents.
DAY 03:
Breakfast. We take an easy hike to the El Misterioso Trail, where we are likely to find several species of primates. Lunch. Travel downstream to our next camping site. Dinner. We will take a night hike. Lodging in tents.
DAY 04:
Breakfast. We will hike on the El Saladero Trail where we are likely to encounter animals at salt licks, and diverse plants and trees. Lunch. Travel downstream to our next camping site. Dinner. We will canoe at night to look for caimans. Lodging in tents.
DAY 05:
Breakfast. We take our final hike in the forest to view more wildlife. Lunch. In the afternoon, we return by motorized canoe to our first campsite (or to the Lodge) for our final night. Dinner and Lodging.
DAY 06:
Breakfast. We will travel to the Huaorani Community of ?eo?eno, where you can learn about the traditions and customs of its people. Lunch. We continue upstream to the bridge where we will board the bus back to Coca (arrival at 16:30 approx.).
EL SALADERO
5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
DAY 01:
Quito-Coca by airplane. From Coca, we will travel south by small pick-up or bus to Shiripuno Bridge (approx. 3 hours). Lunch. We will take the motorized canoe downstream to the Shiripuno Amazon Lodge, which is at 210 meters above sea level. During the ride, approximately 4 hours, you will be introduced to the wide diversity of wildlife in the rainforest. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 02:
Breakfast. We will hike (3-4 hours) in the primary forest on the Magic Canopy Trail, where we will enjoy a scenic view of the Amazon Basin at 310 meters above sea level The Huaorani and naturalist guides will tell you about the biodiversity of the rainforest and the medicinal plants that local people use. This hike requires that you be in good physical condition. Lunch. In the afternoon, there will be piranha fishing on the Shiripuno River. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 03:
Birdwatching (05:45 optional). Breakfast. We will hike on the El Saladero Trail where you will discover the rich variety of plants and trees along the way, and have the chance to see animals at clay licks. Box lunch. In the afternoon, we will hike back to the campsite. After dark, there will be an excursion to explore forest night life and to look for caiman. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 04:
Breakfast. We will go to the oxbow lake where there is a variety of species of plants and animals. Lunch. In the afternoon, we will take the motorized canoe and to a small river where there are many different species of birds, including the bizarre looking Hoatzin. Dinner and Lodging.
DAY 05:
Breakfast. We will travel to the Huaorani Community (Neoneno), where you will learn about the traditions and customs of its people. Lunch. We will continue navigation upstream to the bridge where we will board the bus back to Coca (arrival at 17:30 approx.).
MAGIC CANOPY
4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS
DAY 01:
