La Casa del Suizo offers you all of the staple activities to make your Amazon vacation unforgettable, combined with a first class lodging experience that will keep you in comfort the whole time. Just four hours north of Quito you will find a much more tranquil corner of the world. A short motorized canoe from Punta Ahuaho will bring you right to La Casa del Suizo.
The lodge was built in 1986 by the Swiss explorer and visionary “Benny” Ammeter, who later founded Sacha Lodge. Since then, it has grown from a quaint 3-room lodge above Benny’s store into a 75-room hotel with a swimming pool & gourmet restaurant. Now, almost three decades later, Casa del Suizo is still happy to welcome other adventure-seekers to experience the Amazon in all of its natural beauty on any of their tours.
The rooms at La Casa del Suizo leave nothing to be desired. When you need to take a break from the great activities or at the end of a long day, you will head back to your modern room, where you can enjoy a hot shower or a gentle breeze passing through the well ventilated windows or the quiet ceiling fans above.
If you prefer to relax in the privacy of nature's backyard, then you are in luck: each room at La Casa del Suizo has hammocks on the porches that are attached to each room.

Alternative options to La Casa del Suizo
If you like the atmosphere here, you will probably also enjoy the Yasuni Kichwa Lodge. Situated right on the banks of the Napo River, this lodge offers a relaxing environment and easy access to all of the staple activities. Cuyabeno Eco-lodge is another fantastic option similar to Casa del Suizo. Cuyabeno was the first lodge in the Cuyabeno National Park to be designated as an “eco-lodge,” for its dedication to conservation and “green” business practices.
Visiting the Andes and/or Galapagos Islands
Consider combining your trip to the rainforest with a stop in the Andes or the Galapagos. The Ecuadorian Andes are home to some of the most culturally rich cities in South America, including the tranquil paradise of Cuenca and of course the World Heritage Site/ capital, Quito. These colonial cities have done a great job in preserving their roots and history, and travelers even today can appreciate their ancient charm.
